Things That Make My Heart go ‘KABLOOOM!!!’

Last night, I volunteered for World Vision helping sign up people who were interested in sponsoring a child. This was during a Shane & Shane, Bethany Dillon and Phil Wickham concert. People who attended because they were fans, or just wanted to hear some Christmas music, or even some of them just tagging along with their roommates…all of these types of people decided to stop in the middle of all that fun and think about a kid on the other side of the world. Not only think about, but thanks to Shane Barnard’s testimony and leading, every child packet we had was prayed over by name. That’s just the coolest thing ever. I didn’t count but I’m guessing 50-60 kids were sponsored, which is another awesome thing. Wanna learn about sponsoring? Check out what your dollar a day can do for a child in need on the World Vision site.
Remember the Vietnam Kindergarten project over on Stuff Christians Like? The goal to provide for the second school was met this week! I love that. I love that the money for the first school came pouring in, making the goal in the first 18 hours. I love that it only took 25 days to make the goal for both schools. I love that people still ask if Jon is going to keep going…raising more money for supplies etc. I love that in the comments section of that site, there are all sorts of remarks about other opportunities to give, ideas for future projects, and a great deal of praise and overall Wow-ing over what God has done.
The biggest coolness about both of these situations is that they are so contradictory to what I hear in the news: people are tightening their belts, hunkering down because of a lousy economy. The message if you listen to them is gloom, doom and despair in all financial matters. But my God works in His own economy. And I’m here to tell you, THAT economy is booming.
Which makes my heart go Kablooey.
Eirene,
Jen
